This Month’s Featured Spots

  • Michael LaRue

    FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHER (Photo In Menu)

I started out as an amateur photographer in high school. After I purchased my first REAL 35 MM camera (Argus C-3 from a downtown pawn shop) I was ready to start serious photography. I subscribed to the magazines Modern and Popular Photography and consumed every month's article. I walked around everywhere with my camera snapping everything my teen eyes could see. Although I did enjoy photographing people I developed a very keen interest in buildings, old architecture, and scenic images in the parks our family lived close to (Carondelet and Wilmore).

In my Junior year of High School, the opportunity of being a staff photographer came up with our high school's newspaper, The Orange & Blue. Fast forward to my Senior year I became Photo Editor and by the time I graduated from high school I knew which direction I wanted to go. I immediately enrolled in photography and music classes in college. I absolutely loved each and every music, art and photography class that I took. As I continued my studies, I freelanced as a wedding photographer while fine tuning my growing passion of art photography. Eventually I went on to a career as an Assistant Medical Photographer at Washington University.

In the past several years as an artist, my photography has been seen and on exhibit at several local art galleries, art shows and public libraries as well as private cafes, coffee houses and restaurants.
